The Seven Day Juice fast
Cleansing the body has to start with the colon and liver as they are the organs of elimination and the part of the body that takes our toxic load. While detoxing these two organs have to be kept open and flowing so it is necessary to take herbs, have a few colonics and flush out the liver to really get the benefit of a fresh start. Skin brushing, applying liver packs, having salt baths and saunas also increase the elimination process.
You have to get your head into the right place for fasting as the temptation of food is all around us. After three days you will notice changes in your body. I started with a headache at the front of my head, aches and pains in a weak area in my neck and felt spaced out. Old injuries and unanswered worries crop up when detoxing as the body heals and tackles all the niggly areas where toxins collect. Fasting is an effective way of healing the body from within. Body processes change when you give your digestion a rest from eating leading to the consumption of body fat, protein and repair of damaged or disease tissue.
Fasting with vegetable and fruit juices freshly made with the pulp removed is less severe and more nourishing than with water alone. The herbs and intestinal powders break up the waste and keep it flowing out. (Ask for details) At the end of the seven day detox it is a good idea to do a liver cleanse while the colon is clear. This may make you a little irritable as the liver is the seat of anger, but you will look bright eyed and bushy tailed within the fortnight. Your skin will be so clear.
Day 1
The first day is preparation so you can have one meal of raw fruit and one of vegetables with plenty of water. Two capsules of cotton bowel herbs to keep you opening your bowels.
I felt a bit spacey and tearful but determined to see it through the week. Doing a cleanse with a friend is helpful as you can encourage each other to stay away from food. I realised I am emotionally dependant on food and eat way too much. All that excess food is not used well by the body. All the body really craves is the enzymes in raw food. Contrary to feeling tired as usually my body is working hard to digest all that food, I felt invigorated and got up easily the next day at 6.a.m
Day 2
I had a blinding headache although it feels good in a strange way because you are aware of the body clearing house. The headache was at the front of my head like a cloud. Again it is a preparation day, so one meal of raw vegetables and one of fruit, not eaten too late in the evening. All through the week drink plenty of water, hebal teas and fresh juices. Two capsules of coton bowel herbs.
Day 3
I felt very irritable and noises of any kind bothered me. It is good to get plenty of rest while detoxing as the body wants to heal, so staying up late and taxing yourself will undo the healing process. The liver needs time to detoxify and that is naturally taking place between 2 a.m. to 4.a.m when you should be in a deep sleep. I passed a deep motion that felt like it was coming from very high up in my body. An issue I had with my Mum came up out of nowhere and I noticed my neck was really stiff. Any old injuries will suddenly get worse as you heal but they do disappear again. My hunger was plaguing me but I felt determined to carry on.
Day three is the start of the juice fast, so juice as much as you like, you do not need to stick to meal times. As you drink the pure juice you have made, you will notice how your body seems to cry out for it. It tastes so wonderful and seems to release the stress we have from eating rubbish. My skin looked rough and my eyes felt like they had dust in them, all part of the detoxing process. If you detox quickly, if you have a fast metabolism, it is preferable to have a colonic on day three to keep the flow. I have a medium to slow metabolism so I needed the colonics later in the week.
Using an enema kit daily will help you detox more quickly as you remove the waste. At this point it maybe an idea to put a liver pack over your liver at night to encourage it to stay open as well (ask for details). Drink every type of juice you like but cut from fresh. Green vegetables are preferable if you have a sugar problem, rather than fruit and use plenty of garlic to cleanse out parasites and worms. Cucumber, beetroot, apple and celery are great detoxing juices for the liver. Taking the bowel capsules between 2 or 4 daily to keep you moving is essential. The intestinal powders to soften the stools should be taken at least 4 times during the day as well.
If you feel peckish, make a melon and strawberry juice to keep you going.
Day 4
By day four I had turned off my phone and felt quite hungry at times although making a juice feels so right for your body that the hunger is not really an issue. It makes you question why on earth we actually eat so much. I started body brushing which helps the lymphatic system drain and you will notice more mucous in your stools if you keep this up twice daily during the week. (Ask for details). I came out in spots above my eyebrows and on my cheekbones and felt a relaxed sort of tiredness in the afternoon.
During this week it is better not to do rigorous exercise at the gym as not only will you feel too hungry, you are denying the body the rest it needs to repair. Afternoon naps are a must and be in bed by 10.30 p.m. You will find it difficult to stay up past this time anyway. Your body wants to rest and be quiet.

Day 5
It all becomes easier as the week goes on and your appetite diminishes. My headache had cleared and I was starting to feel bloated so I had a colonic. I made the mistake of eating a lump of cheese and straight away my body reacted with a headache. It made me aware of bread and cheese being a no no for me. Your stomach starts to feel lighter and you are on and off the toilet all the time. Each motion you pass suddenly makes you feel better as the body clears house. There is so much physical work going on so do not be privy to lots of manic phone calls or negativity. This is your week to treat yourself right and get the best results to repair your body.

Day 6
I had a second colonic because my body detoxes towards the end of the week and you feel it all in your system. I still looked a bit rough and my hair was dry but I could see the weight dropping off my face. All the bloating and water retention goes from your body and you pass enormous amounts of urine. Keep drinking as much as you can and juicing when you feel like it. The niggly aches and pains had ceased and my eyes did not feel dusty anymore.

Day 7
The last day is an ideal time to do a liver flush which involves drinking Epsom salts, olive oil and grapefruit. (See details). The flush is much easier to do on a stomach that has been empty of solids all week. Swallowing salt water is not the easiest thing but if you chew on ginger or take the taste away with apple juice it is palatable..Just. I felt horribly angry when I lay down to sleep on the seventh night and I was soon up again as the liver did its work and emptied the stones and salts into the toilet. You do get a sore bottom because you have to go to open your bowels a few times. The waste looks like green moss and smells quite toxic. It is worth it though because clearing your liver gives you a wonderful release of energy and very bright clear eyes.
This is the last day of juicing which started on day three, so get to bed and look forward to some solids the next day.
The Finale after the fast
Now you have proved you can get your hand out of the fridge and detoxify, it is important to come back to food slowly. It is not advisable to have a big meal after fasting for a week. You may find you naturally do not feel that hungry anyway. Well great, more weight loss!
The good news is you did it and your liver and colon are better for it. Flushing the liver out helps reduce cholesterol and sort out unbalanced sugar levels. The bad new is many therapist and advocates of detoxing and raw food say that One week of fasting is not enough. There are so many additives in foods, we need three weeks to fast and give ourselves pure foods to really cleanse the body. Once you have done one week why not do another two. Happy January fasting. I also noticed giving up smoking is really easy when you fast because your mind is not on it at all....do both together, live healthily and abundantly, we don't really need the cream cakes do we?
